I had a holiday recently in Wales. It was very good fun, lots of walks and also got to meet some members of my extended family who I had good fun playing with.
Here is a photo of me looking at Arthur’s Stone, which is a prehistoric grave.

Did you know that Beatrix Potter was a fan of Border Terriers??
I was browsing the collections of the V&A (as is the right of a dog to do), and came across the fact that they have a photograph of Beatrix Potter sitting next to a Border Terrier and and … feeding him!! Unfortunately there is no image on the website, but I have it on good authority that this is an accurate description of the photograph. Perhaps I will visit the V&A and request that I can view the photo. I’m sure that dogs are allowed in museums.

I think people might be beginning to think that I am a trainspotter! It’s not true! But I like to get around the countryside by different ways and means. So here is a photo of me waiting for a steam train.

I have strong teeth and I like to use them on my toys, I love chewing fabric toys and tearing them to pieces. This means that my toys don’t last all that long and it is a challenge to find one that lasts more than a week. I pride myself on my chewing abilities. The following email exchanges demonstrates my worth:
Email 1: from my human owner
I have just bought, an Ancol, ‘Extremely Tough Dog Toy’, ‘Small Dog Tuffie’, as my dog loves fabric toys but they come rather expensive as he certainly can be described as an ‘aggressive and persistent chewer’. He is a Border Terrier. Seduced by your description, hoping it might last a week or two, I bought the toy. It lasted five minutes before he got through the outer layer, and the lining, to the inner material. I thought you should know! It doesn’t work for ‘aggressive and persistent chewers’ for any reasonable stretch of time. Dog lover as I am, I think £3.99 for 5 minutes pleasure is a little steep.

As I mentioned in my New Year’s Resolutions, this year I am determined to learn to travel by train. It will open a whole world of possibilities. So this week I went on a train journey to Totnes, which is a small town in Devon, half an hour away by train from Exeter. It is a really nice town and had lots of exciting smells for me to investigate. It also has some nice shops but as a doggy I wasn’t allowed in the majority of them.
Here is a photo of me climbing around the platform at the train station whilst waiting for the train home.

There aren’t many things that I can improve on, but I do have some resolutions that I have made.
1 – Eat more biscuits
2 – To not be afraid of travelling on trains
3 – Eat more meat
4 – To make new toys last more than one week
5 – Eat more chips
6 – To be let off the lead more often
7 – Eat more beef steaks
8 – To keep up my blog and post lots of photos of myself
9 – Eat more James Wellbeloved biscuits
10 – To be enthusiastic about all walks even when it is raining
A tough set of resolutions as I like to set myself high standards, but I shall do my best to keep each and everyone.
Woof!

I went for a walk at Dawlish Warren this weekend. Now the festivities are over I am back to my normal job of exploring the beautiful county of Devon. I did get rather wet and muddy on the walk, we’re not having the best weather here at the moment. It’s a good job I have lots of fur to keep me warm.
After the walk, we had lunch at a pub called the Beach Hut, a sensible pub that lets dogs in. Or I should say it is a dog pub that graciously lets in the humans as well!
I’m obviously a bit out of condition because after all this excitement I slept all evening and didn’t have the energy to play with the humans!

After seeing everyone at Christmas and New Year the house seems very quiet. I’d got used to going for lots of walks and having lots or people to play with.
I have picked some information from my sources that there may be a couple of visitors next week though. Am looking forward to some more playing time.
I’m also wondering why they chose another human to be the new Doctor Who, I’m sure that I could have done a great job saving the universe with my canine skills.

Christmas hugs
